Waterford Christian Assembly is a group of Bible believing Christians who have been meeting together as a local church since February 2006. We gather together to study the Bible, pray, and worship God. We believe the Bible is God’s Word and that we have a responsibility to know what He has said and how that applies to our lives today, so we give much of our time to teaching and preaching the Bible.
We are not part of any denomination, yet we are thankful for the fellowship we enjoy with many other Christians here in Waterford, around Ireland, and indeed, worldwide.
The Acts of the Apostles in the New Testament records the earliest history of the church. There we learn that those who gladly received the word Peter preached were baptised and added to the church (Acts 2:41, 47). These then “continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers” (v. 42). We believe this pattern should still be followed today: personal faith in Jesus Christ; baptism as a public profession of that faith; and then a commitment to gather with other believers in a local church.
The local church is a place where the Word of God is simply and clearly taught; where Christians encourage one another and care for one another (fellowship); where the Person and work of Christ is honoured by fulfilling His command to remember Him in the breaking of bread (1 Corinthians 11:23-26); and where we acknowledge our dependence on God by speaking to Him in prayer.
